What this checks

That a public server address answers on an allowed Minecraft port.
That the server answers Minecraft's status handshake.
Player count and MOTD, with results cached for up to 30 seconds.

Java servers may include a custom server icon in their status response. Bedrock status responses do not include an icon. A server can be up but still fail here if a firewall blocks the query port, or if enable-status is set to false in server.properties.
